The Big Canoe Volunteer Fire Department was created to provide people and resources to assist the Big Canoe Public Safety Department by augmenting their staff and providing, enhancing or upgrading their equipment to help provide the best possible Fire, Medical and Public Safety service to the residents and guests of Big Canoe as well as surrounding counties.

Volunteer Activities:
Our volunteer organization works closely with the Big Canoe Public Safety Department to assist with Structure and Wildland Fires, Medical Calls, Traffic Accidents, Storm related needs, Search and Rescue, Traffic Control and many other Public Safety supported needs. We also assist the department with operational requirements, such as annual hose testing and fire hydrant testing and maintenance. Our volunteers are a mix of Support Role Firefighters, Interior Firefighters, EMT's and EMR's. We train to maintain the State required certifications, acquire and maintain the needed skills, and enhance individual qualifications.
